Bali is the most popular and visited island in Indonesia. The tourists who come here are very diverse: from real holidaymakers on the beach, to digital nomads and travelers who seek peace and nature. There is something that makes the island attractive for every type of traveler.

Bali actually has everything within a short distance of each other: beautiful beaches with luxurious beach bars, a beautiful jungle and rice fields, two volcanoes to climb, busy cultural sights, but also relaxed places with small local warungs. The further you travel north of the island, the less touristy the destinations become and the more you see of the local culture and people.

No, Bali is certainly not an expensive holiday destination. Although prices in Bali continue to rise because the island is becoming increasingly popular, it is still a fairly cheap holiday destination. You can still get a meal for about 1 or 2 euros or sleep in a guesthouse for about 15 euros per night. The only thing that makes your holiday to Bali expensive is often the plane ticket. Furthermore, it is in your hands and you can make your holiday as expensive as you want.

This very much depends on what you want to see or visit in Bali. Because the island is not very large, you can see quite a lot of the island in two weeks. The popular seaside resorts and Ubud are a fairly short distance apart. You can see and experience plenty here in two weeks. Would you rather take a trip through the north of Bali? Then it is best to use the full two weeks beforehand. A combination of several seaside resorts in the south and a trip through the north of the island is going to be a little bit much for 2 weeks.

The dry season in Bali runs from April to October. The best time to travel is during these months. It is around 30 degrees in Bali all year round, with it often being hotter during the rainy season than during the dry season. During the rainy season it is a lot quieter in Bali than in the dry high season. Can you also go to Bali during the rainy season? Yes, of course, but keep in mind that when it rains in Bali it really pours down. There is a good chance that you will have to adjust your plans accordingly.

There are many fun and beautiful things to do and see in Bali. A number of things that we think should not be missed during your holiday in Bali:

Yes, it is definitely safe in Bali. I almost dare to say that Bali is one of the safest holiday destinations outside Europe. This is partly because the locals are incredibly friendly and helpful and because many tourists celebrate a holiday, work and live in Bali.

Yes, you need a visa to enter Bali. In principle, this applies to all of Indonesia. Most tourists use the VOA (visa on arrival), which is valid for 30 days. You can buy this upon arrival for 500,000 IDR (~30 euros). Nowadays you can request an E-VOA at home to skip the (sometimes) long lines at the airport. Read here more about tourist visas for Bali.
