TIP: Check out our Google Maps map of Bali for all hotspots on this beautiful Indonesian island.
Melasti beach
One of the better known beaches around Uluwatu is Melasti beach. This beach is especially made for a nice day on a beach bed, or chilling at the beach club with swimming pool. They are still busy building new restaurants and beach clubs here. They are also working hard on an extra entrance to the beach. There is already a large parking lot at the beach, with toilet houses and some small restaurants and shops. There are also lifeguards here and you can rent beds with umbrellas. The sea is quite calm so you can enjoy swimming. You can deduce from all this that it can get quite busy on this beach and that will certainly be the case around high season. This beach is great for a relaxing day.

PRICE: The entrance is 10.000 IDR pp en 2.000 IDR per scooter.
Thomas beach
Thomas beach is also a beach to relax on. The beach is easily accessible and there is a parking lot to park your scooter. Via a staircase you walk to the beach with rocks, soft sand and crystal clear water. There are some small restaurants and beach clubs. There is little shade, so luckily you can also rent umbrellas and sunbeds here. In general, it is less crowded than other beaches in Uluwatu. It is therefore slightly further from the restaurants and accommodations. Besides the fact that you can swim and sunbathe here, it is also a good place for surfing. And as icing on the cake, you can watch a beautiful sunset here at the end of the day.
Nunggalan beach
Nunggalan beach is one of the unknown beaches in Bali. This is therefore a real gem that you have to work for. It is quite a drive from the main road. You can then park your scooter above, after which you have to hike down for about 45 minutes to get to the beach. I recommend wearing good shoes as it can be quite slippery. Once down you come to a beautiful deserted white beach. You will meet a few and there are at most 2 locals selling cold coconuts. There is no shade and no umbrellas, so keep this in mind.

TIP: Take enough food and drinks with you because you can't buy anything here.
The beach, the surroundings of high cliffs and the crystal clear water together form a beautiful picture. There is a wreckage of a ship, which is decorated with graffiti. You can take really nice pictures here. There is also a cave at the beach that you can only explore when the tide is out. A real hidden gem in Bali.
PRICE: 5,000 IDR to park a scooter.
Suluban beach
Suluban beach is also one of the lesser known beaches in Bali. It is popular among surfers, but sunbathing and swimming is not always possible here. The beach is located between / behind a gorge of rocks. The beach therefore only appears when it is low tide. When the tide is out, the currents are quite strong and you can't really swim here. You can even be completely engulfed by a wave unexpectedly. It is a nice picture when the water splashes between the rocks. So even when the tide is out, this beach is worth a visit.

PRICE: 5,000 IDR to park a scooter.
Bingin beach
What makes Bingin beach different from the other beaches is that there are numerous hotels, guesthouses and bungalows right on the cliff. As a true beach lover, you are in the right place here. You can take a dip in the sea from your bed. The beach can be reached via a steep staircase down. It is advisable to wear some good shoes for this. It can get quite busy here in high season, so make sure you arrive on time. This is a popular beach, especially among surfers. Please note that the sea here is a bit rougher with higher waves, so it is a good place especially for advanced surfers. There are a small number of restaurants and shops. Furthermore, there is no lifeguard and little shade, so keep this in mind.
Padang padang beach
Padang Padang beach is probably the most famous beach in Uluwatu. This is quite central and is popular among many surfers. Surfing competitions are held here once in a while. A special entrance has been made, where there are sometimes many monkeys. So watch your belongings, also on the beach! After the entrance you walk down a narrow staircase between two rocks. The water is crystal clear and you can also relax in addition to surfing. Make sure you also go here on time, because it can get very busy here in high season.

PRICE: The entrance is 15.000 IDR.
There are really many more beautiful and undiscovered beaches around Uluwatu. The whole lower part of Bali is full of beautiful beaches. Enough to discover!
